During todays lecture we looked into the art of typography and rules around it.
Typography has one plain duty before it and that is to convey information in writing. No argument or consideration can absolve typography from this duty. A printed work which cannot be read becomes a product without purpose. —Emil Ruder
First we touched on the different classifications in typography.
These classifications and the fonts under them affect the designs legibility and mood.
For example a font used for the cover of Dracula would be different than a font used in the actual novel.
We also talked about different things to keep in mind while using type.
Things such as alignment ,cases , line-spacing and height.
I enjoyed seeing the examples of these definitions and understanding these elements of type I haven't previously thought or knew about.
